High Idle

It is a 2012 pro rmk 800. It currently has a turbo on it but this is a stock isse that shows up randomly. Start up the sled and it will idle at 1800 rpm. Run the track for a little bit and it will idle around 2300rpm. Sometimes it randomly drops back down but not often.

What I've tried so far:
Spraying carb cleaner on the PTO bearing... nothing
Spraying carb cleaner with PTO bearing covered up...it idle down
Adjusting throttle free play...nothing
Checked TSS...it works
TPS was just adjusted by dealership to high side of range
Stator???
Fuel filter???
Voltage regulator???
Bad gas?
???????????

Any ideas?????

Same Thing

Mine does the same thing. I have a Silber Turbo on mine. Sometimes it will idle at the 1800 to 1950 range at initial start up and other times it will be 2250 to 2300. As long as it has a idle and I don't have to add throttle to get it to idle I haven't worried about it. I know this reply isn't much help, but you aren't the only one. I've been told it's common for pro's with turbos to have a fluctuating idle rpm.

o-rings

Replace the O-rings it's sucking air at idle. And while you are at it replace the little o rings that are on the rods holding the throttle bodies to the motor. On the Silber I think the little o rings wear, then the 4- 2 1/8"I'd? 2 1/4od? O-rings wear and suck in extra air.

I do have a silber kit and I replaced the 6 large Orings (all 2 1/8") that were a little worn/torn. I figure it is sucking air from somewhere but I am not sure where. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem. Btw, it did this stock too so the turbo shouldn't have anything to do with it. I thought I fixed the problem when I put it back to stock, but apparently not.

Just had mine all apart as I installed a Indy Dan top end. My o-rings visually look fine (doesn't necessary mean they are), but mine has done it since the day the kit was installed too. I know there another thread on here from about a year ago discussing this, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Yeh I posted that thread too haha. I still haven't figured out the problem. And I'm at 1200ft right now so I hope it doesn't idle low at high elevation and bog like it did last year. I bought all new Orings so I know that's not the problem. Maybe it idling fine will be a good thing cuz it idled low last year out west. We will see.

I just got a turbo put on my machine. The guy who installed it knows pros very well and said until the assembly grease/ oil gets burnt out of the new turbo it will idle higher than normal because of the excessive back pressure from the turbo. He said to leave it alone and it will come back down once the grease/oil is burn out and the turbo spins freely. Could it be the cheap turbos not spinning freely ?

This turbo has 300 miles on it right now so there is no grease in the turbo because it is not new. It could be that it sat over the winter/summer and it needs to be run on snow to break it back in. It won't produce boost on the track stand with no engine load. A person would think there would be a leak but I'm not sure.

Well last night I started it again to see if the problem with the high idle still existed. It stated on the second pull and it idled funky at first. It would go from 1800-2300rpm and jump around slowly but randomly. I shifted it into reverse to see what would happen and it died. I tried to restart it and it took about six to eight pulls with the throttle on a little bit at the end. It*started up and idles right at 1800rpm. I ran the track a few times and it idles right back down to 1800rpm right away. Could this be a fuel filter or voltage problem????

This is interesting. I just installed a Silber turbo on my 2011 and started it up for the first time yesterday. Having the exact same thing happen, idles at 1800ish, then goes up to 2300 or so, then maybe back down occasionally. My O-rings are new, so this leads me to think maybe this isnt your problem?

Another thing that comes to mind is reeds. I checked mine out when installing the turbo and they were very slightly worn on the tips, only on the bottom side of each cage. It did not seem like it would be a problem, given this wear was so minor that it was difficult to see. But I could be wrong?

Just a thought. Glad to hear i'm not the only one with this issue
