Hifax vs Hyperfax

Today riding my sled burned thru the hifax. It was only 50miles and I thought I was getting into enough soft snow (bear in mind I was riding in Minot, ND and my sled is a 07 Summit 144). The question is should I fork up the money and get Hyperfax or just buy another set of stock hifax and remeber to put the scratchers down. Sled only has 500miles on it.

In a word, yes, put your scratchers down :boink:.

Go ahead and replace with Hyperfax if you want to (I have never had any) but they will probubly wear down faster than they should (just like your Hyfax did) if you are not putting down your scratchers when you need to and you have them available.

It's not rocket science to look at conditions and figure that you either need to put yer scratchers down, or stop and kick snow in there fairly often. Hyperfax will just be more expensive to replace.

My Hyperfax has 2000 miles looks new still.worth the coin

Are you using the very front set of idler wheels? Those take pressure off the leading edge of the hifax and does dramatically improve hifax wear which you'll get even with scratchers if you don't have the front wheels! Hyperfax even recommends using the front set. Byeatts, are you running them with yours?

I usually always run hyperfax. Regular ones are way cheaper. You could probably buy 6-7-8 pairs for what one set of hyper fax cost. It is a matter of how much you like to change them. If you are shy on wheels or scratchers they are the only way to go. I am always good about getting in snow or i'll drag my feet once in a while but my wife isn't. She wore a set of regular hifax out in one day with an ez ryde suspension. She is really hard on ice scratchers too. She did go through the hyperfax once but it took about 4 years. You can wear either out but my vote is for hyperfax if you don't like working on stuff all the time.

Keep in mind, you don't want to run Hyperfax unless you have a fully clipped track, it will wear through the rubber on the unclipped area. Not the end of the world, just a heads up.

Yup but SLP makes some buttons that you can install to get around that problem.
