Hifax change Nytro

OK, how do you lay the Nytro MTX on its right side to install the left hifax without spilling oil EVERYWHERE?

Maybe I could do both slides with it on its left side.

Thoughts?

It does on the hill

Does it drain out?

If you get the sled stuck on the right side it leaks A LOT. I'm sure it'd do the same thing on the garage floor. It pisses the oil all out in a puddle under the sled. Looks like a Harley parked on the snow.

I always carry an extra quart of Yamalube with me just to fill up after a good stuck(on the right side).

I think it's a conspiracy between Yamaha and the oil mfgr's to keep the 4 strokes using as much oil as the 2 strokers.

I think I'll use the rafters. Thanks for the idea rmk8hundo.

The reason it pukes on the hill is different, when it's on it's side and the engine is running it will spew
It would need to be upside down to barf on the shop floor

pull the skid, it is four bolts. flip the retainers for the torsion springs forward, remove pressure from the springs, pull the rear skid bolts, front skid bolts, remove the skid, remove old hyfax, install new, reassemble in reverse. alot easier than fighting off and on while skid is in the sled. less than an hour if you have the skills. ski

Yeah.

pull the skid, it is four bolts.

I think I'll try that as I saw my neighbor and his buddies working forever to do it on a Polaris 150-something" 900 and it didn't look like they were having any fun.

I'd like to get familiar with the skid anyway as I want to run some anti stab wheels and maybe the fix kit to help with the hifax wear.

Thanks.

You don't need to remove the skid or lay it on it's side.
The sliders will fit through the wholes on the track. Remove the screw at the front, bang the old ones out, install new ones, replace screw. Have done mine twice in the dark in 15 minutes.

Whoah!, now that's some serious hi fax wear, 7 minutes per set LOL

What tool?

What tool do you use to "bang the old ones out"? I just pulled mine and it wasn't too much fun, as a hammer and vise grip sucks for the job.

Thanks.

I used a fairly large punch with a flat end so it won't punch through to the rails. Hammered on the side towards the back, just back far enough that I could get the vise grips on good then pulled like crazy. When I say hammer, it's usally a medium tap.

I always tell the wife it takes longer so I can have a couple more beer.:beer;
