Jay Heeter, a local representative from the Hidden Gems Wilderness Campaign is setting up information tables around the community over the next two weeks so people can learn more about the effort to provide the highest protection possible for about 51,000 acres on public lands in Summit County.
Jay will be available to answer both general and specific questions about the overall Hidden Gems proposal and the eight specific areas in Summit County that have been identified for protection. He will have maps and fact sheets on hand from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 24 in front of the Frisco Safeway; and then again on Tuesday, Dec. 1 in front of the Dillon City Market.
The Hidden Gems Wilderness Proposal is a citizen-generated plan to grant the highest protection in the land to what proponents say are some of Central Colorado's most precious landscapes and wildlife populations.
