Hidden agenda on Revs

Is it just me or does anyone else notice this trend. Today, I had an 04 Rev apart, and holy $ h i t e!! There is absolutley no room to work in there. It took me damn near 4 hours just to replace the carb boots. I'm wondering if the engineers at Bombardier are making the sleds so small and compact that you either need hands that are the size of a two year old to work on the damn thing or that when you take it in the dealer, it takes them the same amount of time so that you get charged out the wazo?? AND what is the buisness with all these after thoughts on the REVs? Every year there is a different plug, belt, piston ring, clutch spring, windsheild, tethe, decal etc.. update that has to get done, but the funny thing is it almost costs double than what was OEM on the machine in the first place. Is anyone else fed up of this crap other than me??

pull carbs rejet in 1.5 hours?

no room the only thing that sucks is the carb heaters lines. but if you never use your carb heaters plug them off with caps. 4 hours sounds like it was your first time taking it apart?

The carb area is tight, but anything on the side is MUCH easier than the older sleds, easy access to chaincase, clutches etc...
Try just changing the plugs on a Cat or doing anything on a yami....they are even worse.

you should be riding a mid 90's cat....they have lots of room

i dont complain about lack of maintenance space...after all, why would i want my sled bigger than it is. cram it all in, leave the plugs on top, and ill deal with the rest.

If we want lighter sleds they have to be made smaller and more compact in the areas that it is possible to do it. That makes things tighter. I took off the oil injection first thing on my TNT mod longtrack and eliminated the front heat exchanger, rerouted coolant hoses with 1" aluminum tubing etc. and have all kinds of room except for the carbs, they still suck because of how the gas tank sits over them. On a plus the XP airbox is the easiest to take off there is. Summer project may be getting rid of the stock gas tank that weighs 14 lbs because of double wall for emissions and that would make the sled perfect and bring the full wet weight from its current 450 lb wet to about 442 lbs. wet.

Good Luck

It's a matter of getting used to it, commiting to the idea that nothing can be done from over the top of the motor anymore. The carbs are a PITA, but if you unhook the cooling line on the PTO side they can be pushed back and held in place-I use a bungee cord on the top and hook it to the bars. It keeps them from falling back in the way of my work.

Even the Y-pipe bolts aren't that bad if you have an allen wrench (or three) of just the right length.

how long of track? do you have some pics of the tnt?
LRD you premix now?

I have a 16 X 137 X 1.75 that gives it the same flotation on the track as a 154X, just need camo to make this track with 2" paddles and all would be great.

I do premix, this will sound funny but perfect bottles for carrying premix oil in is 10 oz gerber baby bottles, just fill the nipple with silicone and after a couple days of drying put a small wire tie around it to hold it in the nipple and keep it from leaking. The bottles have very clear ounce measure on the sides and don't leak.

Maybe later this week will get time to clean it up a little after coming back from CO to MN and take a few pics and figure how to post them from my lap top.

Good Luck
