HID projector beam...

I installed the polaris projector beam a couple of years ago and I'm now interested in turning it to HID so i can have it on when wanted. I know some people have installed HID kits to the H-4 bulbs but has anybody done this to the H-1 projector? Does it need a relay? Can it be done? Any info will be appriciated!! Thanks
