HID Lighting in a 06 900 Switchback

I searched and could not find any info on the site, sorry if it is a repeat thread. Has anyone installed hid in their 900? and where can I look and find some specs on what I need. :canada:

Without the proper reflector, it's just wasted light that annoys oncoming riders. I'm confident that there is enough room behind the headlight to make it work, but it's a lot of hacking...

You'll want something in the 4500K area because if it's too blue-ish (6000K-10000K) you won't be able to deter terrain obstacles on the trail (or off). If it's too yellow, you'll get a headache and light isn't as abundant (yellow will get absorbed more by obstacles). Our sun is roughly 4200K, so you'll get the best of both worlds at night.

You don't want to get anything higher output than 35W. They should be bright enough. The single element HID with the servo for High/Low "beam" won't hold up in a snowmobile terrain, so stick with the HID low and the "Xenon" highbeam.

With the stators on the 900's, I wouldn't ask too much out of them. It seems like they don't last (with OEM equipment on them alone) with demanding electrical loads. I'm pretty sure you are going to have to rectify the voltage going to the headlights as well, I think that may be AC voltage. Maybe something with electric start may be okay, but I haven't heard of anyone doing so.

Good luck!

that sounds like a lot of work for very little difference. I don't ever ride trails, so i'm not worried about that. thanks for the reply. If it was easy as just putting in hid bulbs and ballists, I would consider it.

I installed that vvme digital slim kit on my 2006 900 SB. It installed pretty easily and everything fit in the tray under the hood. But it didn't work very well. Lights kept Goin out! So I bought a set of silverstar bulbs by Sylvania they are sweet!!
