Its not that this area is any worse than areas in the back country as far as a avy danger. The reason its called the Avy zone is cuzz its right off a groomed trail with a sign that says avy zone.
They dont mark the areas in the back country "Avy Zone". we all know that alot of the hills we all play on could slide in the right cond. You have to be smart about what you do and what you CAN do.
Heston is one of the most skilled riders I have had the pleasure to ride with and is very fun to watch. He pulls lines that you wouldnt think of and does it like hes been doin em for 20 years.
and yes....John is a Pro. back country sleder.
The videos never do these justice. I have looked down the throat of that chute many times. Never once did I ever think someone would climb it. Looking down that thing is like standing on the top floor of a 100 story building and hangin your head over the side....gives you butterflies.

You are so right about vids or cameras not showing the real thing..I have looked down many climbs thinking NO stinking way going down that........only to climb out after 2 or 3 runs....mind you for us old farts goin up is much easier and more fun
For the guy who attached himself to the rear bumper as he rolled over the edge... what was the plan there? Just curious...
heston wanted some guys to help slow him down. So after about 100 feet they were already going pretty fast so they let go. just to try to slow him down a little.
