OK, I F'd up Big Time here.
Had some sterilant (Plateau I believe) in an unmarked container.
I thought it was the remainder of my 2 4 D, and you can see where this is going.......
Yes I now have a brown dead lawn.
Go ahead & laugh & get it out, I do deserve it.

Anyway, how soon can I replant?

Bwwwaaaahhhhhaaaaaahhhhhaaaa
Sorry but that sounds like a dumb trick I'd pull.
Tell everyone you are trying to hurry fall along and get back to Winter.
CUZ SUMMER SUCKS

Good luck

Oh gosh thats not good at all! To be super safe and not waist money and time I would at least wait 4 months till your try to grow new grass.

Oops. With lots of rain maybe this fall. It all depends on how thick you put it on, thicker the longer it will take. Try a small spot every so often to see if it will grow.

If it's a sterilant, you won't grow ANYTHING. It neutralizes the ground and NOTHING GROWS.

DOH!!!

I've seen some of them work for up to 7 years.

can you guys still buy this stuff down there? Id love to get my hands on some as its not available here. Is it a liquid or a powder?? Got some gravel areas I'd like to do for weed control, I assume it would work for that? Whos got some for me??

Have you tried taking those types of chemicals over the border? What do they say about that?

If you try this method I would try a couple of different spots around the yard. Because the stop you try could actually grow something then when you spend loads of money on seed and fertilizer it will grow only in that one spot and the rest could still be dead. Now that would be a bad situation....

I've learned a little bit in the last few days.
Pretty sure it's not Plateau.
Am thinking it's a generic version of Round up.

Sure frees up some time not having to mow this summer!:face-icon-small-ton

Cornerstone is a generic Roundup.

Could it be that?

If so, then it's probably mostly going to only kill post-emergent plants. It doesn't kill seeds. That's what a sterilant does. If you get plants to pop out in a couple weeks then it wasn't a sterilant.

:)

Keep us posted. LOL

Thistle, that's what you want. It's good stuff.
Can't you get ground sterilizers up there? YOu come down this way often, right? Kalispell? You can get it there.

It's not cheap but I use a product from Dupont call Krovar that works very well at killing about anything I put it on and it doesn't grow back. I really like the not growing back part. :)

I want it for the gravel areas here at our farm dealership. We have all kinds of weeds, varieties of grass and even some canola that comes from machines that come in and the seed blows off and is round up ready:face-icon-small-dis.

My dad lives in kalispell and comes up often, where can he buy this stuff there and which one should I get? Granular just spread with a fert spreader before a big rain?? Or what are you guys doing to apply it??

Up here we cant even buy weed and feed anymore for Fawk sakes!!!!!!!!

thistle, you can get at most any ag retail dealers. I have never used the granular stuff but you would spread it i am sure. The sahara has a use rate of 5-19 pounds per acre, so it doesnt take much on a square foot basis. Just remember the stuff can leach with rain water into your yard etc.

Guy I know did the same thing with roundup 2 weeks before his daughters graduation party at his house. His wife was pizzed...made him go out and paint the brown lawn green just for the party.:face-icon-small-ton

Prametol, granular's work amazing. We use them at our block valve sites and pump stations. They work for about 2 years. You have to watch run off though. We have some pump stations where the rain washed some into a near by field and now nothing grows where wheat is supposed to be growing. I would till the area and wait 3 weeks and replant if you only sprayed it with Plateau. It is just a top kill.
