help

yes...a ball hone works good for deglazing, as well I have used the stone hone with light tension..

are you deglazing only or if not and had a minor squeak..??..muratic acid does wonders on any piston aluminum that may have squeaked onto your cylinder wall then deglaze to get your good crosshatch..

this of course keeping in mind your cylinder tolerances are within spec..

scotchbrite them with some solvent to get rid of the rust.

I always hone before reassembly though... light up & down, nothing too nuts.

I wouldn't use a hone to get rid of rust.

Never use a cylinder hone with the three expanding bars. They aren't designed for the small 2s cylinders/ Always use a ball hone. And Always check it carefully before using it. It you have one ball that is broken and you don't catch it, your project just got more expensive.
