I have an 04 kk and no shop can figure out why it runs great for a mile and then starts bogging out real bad! any ideas? Thank's Jimbo

Can you list what they've tested already? Any mods? Need more info for others to help out.

I would start with a throttle safety switch out of adjustment(loose throttle cable), but most shops would know that.

The throttle position sensor may be bad. (TPS) You can get a bog or even a backfire from the TSP. If you don't find anything ride it this winter. When it starts its cr@p unplug the kill switch under the hood. (Three wire plug) Use the key to shut it down. If it cleans up that is your problem. I spent a lot of time with an MC800 to find that. You can spend money to fix it or cut the wire by the plug. Leave enough to rehook it later if you fix it. To cut the wire you have to run jumper wires. Unplug one wire at a time and check the kill switch. When you have a wire unpluged and the kill switch works that is the wire to cut. Elevation might affect how it runs if it is cut. Wife's sled has worked fine at 6000-9000ft for over a year now.

The throttle safety switch is the middle wire in the three prong kill switch plug.

only mod is a can. they said they ran it and it never bogged on them but as soon as i took it out it bogged after the first mile!

Bad stator or coil, or it's air locked and you are over heating.

You can check out what DIGGERDOWN came up with now. Get an ohm meter and unplug the stator and check the readings. I don't have them but maybe someone here or your dealer has them. When it gets hot the Stator or coil could fail.

Check the smart valves in the tank. I had an 03 that did something similar. Cat changed the design since 04. Maybe yours were never updated

Another odd thing to check, make sure your spark plug caps are screwed on tight and making good contact.

We chased electrical gremlins for a year before finding out that was the problem.

my 04 King once did something similar. I don't know that it would run strong for a mile, but it would run perfect for short distance, then cut out and almost die. Sometimes it would, sometimes i could keep it idling. Anywho we figured it out. The carbs had recently been off. When they were put back on, the fuel lines were kinked under the carbs so it was running itself out of gas. Kind of a bone head deal, but that was my prob. Hope we help one way or the other.
