help with yamaha

me and a friend went to go on our first ride yesterday. he rides a 2004 or 05 yamaha apex anyway he started it loaded it up on his truck then drove to our area started it and unloaded it shut it off went got his gear on then went to start it wont turn over with key there is power but you cant hear the fuel pump when key is on and also does not turn over so we checked fuses all good and checked battery by crossing the solenoid to see if it turns over it does turn over but the key will not turn it over or start the fuel pump. he took it home went over everything even ran a hot wire to the fuel pump and the pump is working checked everything with a volt meter including the ignition it is all good, but key will not turn it over weirdest thing ever maybe someone on this site knows or heard of this happening before any info appreciated

Try a new battery? I had a similar problem with the e-start on my wife's sled last year. Tried everything else first then put in another battery and all of life's issued were solved.

yep has a new battery the battery is good as well strangest thing ever, cause we crossed the solenoid with a screwdriver and it turns over

Do the lights come on when you turn the key? Maybe the ignition switch is worn and doesn't make enough contact?

You said you jumped across the solenoid and it turned over? Replace the starter relay assembly, they are about 45.00. It's located between the oil tank and the battery. It has a couple fuses and small relay. Mine did the exact same thing, pulled one from another sled and fired right up. You said the sled is an 04 or 05 Apex... Those years they were a RX1, they changed to the Apex in 06 and were fuel injected.
