Help with track extension

Well, I bought my Hawk with a 121" knowing that I wanted to go longer. I was working on a 136" deal, but now those plans have changed. I now think I should go 144", but have a couple of questions.

My Hawk is a 2004 - 600HO. I am currently planning on staying with the 600 for a season or two, but figure I will eventually end up with an 800 in her.

I figure 144" is what will suite me best, but will it work OK with the 600? I may have my Ski-Doo Summit donate it's 144" track to the Hawk!! Will the 2.52 pitch work OK with the 600 engine, or will I need a larger pitch track with different drivers? I am hoping not to have to go that way, just to keep the cost down....but I don't want to be disappointed with the performance either. Any comments on a 600 engine and a 144" track with a 2.52 pitch?

What do you suggest?

Thanks...AkBillyBow

Track size

There are alot of us running a 144 with a 600. Not a problem. 2.52 pitch is good also. most are adding the no slip drivers so can keep a loose track tension.

Is the free track a 2.86 pitch or a 2.52 pitch ?
If it's a 2.86 you need new drivers...

144" is a great "she-does-it-all" length, do it you won't be disapointed.
I'd suggest swiss cheesing it and not going longer on a 600 though.

Thanks for the replies. The 144" track is a 2.52 pitch. It is on my Summit, so it is 16" wide. I am thinking I will pull it off and cut it down to 13" wide (probably just under to be safe) for the Hawk. Just wanted to be sure it would work good before I cut it down and it wouldn't work on the Summit either. Then I will buy a longer track for my Summit, and kill 2 birds with one stone!! Sorry, but I just can't give up the 2ski yet...perhaps I will be able to once I get this SnowHawk running good.

Any other opinions out there?
Thanks...AkBillyBow

Get a hold of cjgodden. we put a 151 under his hawk and he has a 136 in the shop ready for the hawk. he might be able to find you some extensions also. I run the 136 on mine and LOVE it I can climb and boondocking is no problem.

IbBroken, thanks for the heads up. I'll send cjgodden a message and see if it is for sale. I was thinking that both of you guys were running longer than 136". My old 503 had a 136" but it was too underpowered for me to really tell if 136 was enough for us here in Alaska.

I still need to hook up with you guys and learn the ins and outs of these Hawks. Mine has a lot of work to go before I get it where I want it. But, once I get a track and extension, then I can put the motor back in it and start putting it together!!

Thanks...AkBillyBow

Well everyone, thanks for your help. The search is over...I purchased a 136" track and rail extensions from cjgodden. Thanks cj !!

I have decided that 136" should be enough for a season or two, while I learn to tame this 600. After learning some skills, I may want to go longer...but this should do for now.

I got the track and skid installed today. Now I need to get the motor back in it, and start putting the other 200 pieces back onto the frame...and I'll be good to go. I am sure I will have many more questions as I reassemble my Hawk.

Thanks...AkBillyBow
