Can anyone tell me if the trigger on a Snowpulse Lifebag 30 avalanche backpack can be changed from the left shoulder/right hand operation to the right shoulder/left hand operation?

Thanks for any help-- had this question posted in the avy thread and didn't get any responses.

Thanks for the information and the prompt response. I guess the bag I was thinking about isn't such a good deal-- the left hand operation seems really important if you are on your sled!

No they cannot be changed without modifying the bag and doing something custom. That bag was actually made by Mamutt, which was originally designed for skiers. With 90% of the country being right handed having it on the left shoulder made sense. It was only recent that bags started becoming made for the powersports industry in which they are now on the right shoulder to keep the throttle hand free and on the bars.

Just so you know the handles are on the left side of the bag as most people are right handed. I always tell guys who think they are going to outride an avy while pulling their airbag to get on a 250 or 450 dirt bike, head to their local track and proceed to 3-4th gear through the whoops and try and pull your hand off the handle bar and set off your avy bag, won't happen. The honest answer is if you are on a hill and it goes or you hear or feel a whuuf, pull the bag then try and ride it out, it will never work the other way around. The reason I do like the abs pnuematic handle is that you can use your left hand on the left side trigger...the abs system can easily be moved to either side of the bag with the purchase of the right side handle holder.

Thanks to all for the responses. I agree you won't ride out an avalanche that you are actually in, and you should react as Norona describes. Right hand handle/left hand pull will allow you to continue moving while pulling the trigger.

I think its both more possible and more important to maintain control of your machine if you are on the edge of the movement. There should be a chance of staying out of the main flow if you aren't in a chute.
Thanks again!
