Help with 07 M8

I have an 07 M8 with the following mods: RKT Head, RKT full porting, MBRP can, speedwerx pipe, speedwerx y-pipe, shift assist by MPM, BDX oil elimination, and boondocker box.

I rode it for the first time this past weekend with the speedwerx pipe, y-pipe, and oil elimination. My RPMs we're running right about 8,050 and the motor made a 'wa wa wa wa wa' noise at full throttle like it was hitting a rev limiter.

I'm assuming my clutching is off. What should my clutching be at with this setup?

Or maybe my boondocker box settings are just way off. Anyone have any idea what they should be with this setup? I've called both RKT and speedwerx and they both say they can't tell me due to the other mods I have done.

I'd like to get this figured out - my bro-in-laws basically stock crossfire 700 embarassed me all weekend!!!

My guess is you need more primary weight, but without knowing the altitude and current clutching setup it's hard to know how much. At 9000+ feet I would guess you need around 73 gram weights. The best way to get your fuel controller setup correctly is to tune it yourself. If you don't have EGT's I would get some. Make a couple long pulls, even on the flats, and watch the EGT's. When they get around 1150-1200 hit the kill switch while holding it wide open. Pull a plug and see what it looks like. If you are hitting 8050 and your rich, you need to lean it out and add more clutch weight.

The rev limiter does not kick in untill around 8350-8400.

What pipe is on it? The 925 or other speedwerx?

I did not put the Speedwerx y-pipe on mine per Kelsey's Instructions. If you compare it to the stock y-pipe it has smaller inlet ports.

I can tell you that with the set up in my sig. 07 M8 that a stock or even my brother's moded M7 won't beat it.

What track lenth is your M8?

If you are trail riding the CXF 7 is going to be faster (higher gearing). The "wa wa wa" might have been you hitting the top end of your gearing.

I just have the 800 speedwerx pipe. The track is a 153. I ride anywhere from 8000' and above. The CXF 7 was whipping me at climbing. I couldn't even come close to where he went. Now, I know every rider is different but we are pretty comparable in riding styles. The only difference is he only weighs 180 lbs and I weight 255 lbs. But I don't think the weight should make the difference it is making.

What R's should I be running with this setup? I've heard 7600-7800. Is this correct? If so, can't I just turn back the secondary like on the old clutches to bring down the R's?

Did you take his CXF for a ride to see if you could make it where he went? Did you notice any difference in power between his and yours when/if you road it?

If you are holding 8050 in a climb sounds like your clutching is right. What helix are you running?

The RPM should be around 8000-8100. Some people say 7900 will get it done but 7600 is to low. Adjust RPM with the primary, not the secondary.
