Help with 03 600 Ski Doo

I do some sled repairs and work mostly on Arctic Cats. A customer brought me a 2003 600 Ski Doo with no lights, tach or handwarmers. If it was a Cat I'd suspect the voltage regulator or the lighting coils on the stator. I found what looks similar to the voltage regulator on a Cat and unplugged it to check the voltage coming out of the engine. Tried to start the sled and got nothing, plugged it back in and it fired right up. I wasn't able to poke my tester leads in the connectors to check it with it running. Does anyone have some experience they can lend me? Do these machines have a voltage regulator and where is it? Do they have a history of this kind of trouble and where do I look first? Is the lighting coil replaceable separately or does it take a whole new stator? Thanks in advance, please pm or email jkned@ida.net.

Yes they have a voltage regulator it is located in front of the recoil. If the lights are burned out I would check that. If the lights dont work and the bulbs are good there is a relay buy the headlight that fails and will cause this.

You didnt state if this was a rev chassis? and you can get the relay at Napa part #Ar143.
