Help with 02' 600 VES engine mods

I just bought an 02' 600 RMK VES and I want to make some more power. The only thing I have bought is an SLP can. I see that many people like the ATACC, so I am thinking about that and most don't think reeds are worth it. What about a pipe? SLP only makes the twin pipe (I don't really want twin pipes) and I have heard some say that the stock pipe on this model is pretty good. Any help is appreciated!

02 600

Reeds won't give you much on that motor. Probably the most gains on the stocker would be pipes. I am not a big fan of twins but I have them on my ProX again because that is all SLP made. They work well.

If you really want to wake it up then buy Carl's Cycle 660 kit. It is $1500.00 plus reeds and pipe. It is a bolt on kit. He exchanges your cylinders and supplies pistons, head, and gaskets. They are very fast. In a drag race they will hole shot a 800 and only at the top end does the 800 run them down. They are really fun to ride.

Sell it and buy a 700VES engine package, 135hp easily with the SLP single pipe/can. Way more grunt than a 600.

I had a 2001 EDGE-X 600 snowchecked and it was my gal's sled to ride but I personally put around 1500 miles on it.

It was STOCK except for:
HOLTZMAN ATAAC: (worked flawlessly from Michigan U.P. to 2 trips to Yellowstone) and

HOT SEAT HI-COMP Head::definitely gave it noticeably more bottom end and mid-range.

Ran it for 3300+ trouble-free miles & sold it to my bud.

V-FORCE REEDS: My bud installed V-Force reeds, seemed to do NOTHING noticeable.

SLP Big Air Kit and Flo-Rites:, My bud installed these, just didn't notice any difference that's all. However, they do cause a noticeable increase in intake noise, if you like your sled quiet, don’t do this mod.

PIPE: I did not get a chance to try it, but a reputable source told me the POLARIS PRO-X Single Pipe was worth approx 3-4 H.P. ????????

Love mine

I know it's an old thread & sled, but I still have & love my '02 600. Got the SLP can, Vforce 3 reeds & put on 2-2" intake screens and replaced the speedo with a 4" screen. It's got +/- 10K miles on it and I've NEVER pulled apart the top or bottom ends. Just the basic maintenance on the VES valves, gaskets, carbs every year, truly an uber-reliable little rocket! She doesn't run with the big dogs mid season, but I don't like running the PRO early, and the 136" with the high torque is too much fun in the spring:face-icon-small-hap
Have a great season!
