HELP! Tach quit working

So things got a little hairy last trip and well now my gauge doesnt work. It had been freezing up on me and now just doesnt work and when i flip the hand warmer switches sometimes itll pop on. I checked for loose wires or cut wires, couldnt find anything. Everythings plugged in. Any fuses or typical wires that get faulty on these?

05 800 summit. 3300mi

Does the speedo still work? There is a fuse, but it powers both speedo and tach. The red/yellow wire is the power wire for both. The Speedo and tach are also connected to each other.
Thanks for the reply.
Its a summit model so no speedo. Or atleast it didnt come with one.

Im thinkin it has to be a cut wire because it tries to come on when i flip the handle bar switches around. When the sled landed on me i twisted the switches around, and they are mounted below my brake lever. Instead of being next too it on the top of the bars.

Will test that when i put the motor back in. Have been running couple small lights where the stocker was.

Had em hooked so when i push the high beams they turned on, but when we had our moment, the top got crushed in so no lights last couple rides.

Last time i was with the sled i pulled the switches box off And nothing was frayed or pulled out. I thought for sure my culprit would be in there.

if spedometer and lights and tach dont work it might be the relay. try tapping it with a hammer and if it tries to wwork your relay is shot. my tach dont work either but i kknow its not my relay. trried everything.

My relay went out and tapping on it worked from time to time. the skidoo dealer wants $35.00 and a week to get. I went to napa and bought a standard off the shelf 12volt relay for $2.39. Its worth the try...

I have an 06 summit and I was also having some electrical issues (headlight not working, no reverse) I ended up taking my hand warmer/thumb warmer switch assembly apart and I found a bunch of corrosion, cleaned it all up with some contact cleaner and it fixed my problem. I also made sure that my switch assembly was getting a good ground on my bars, if you switch assembly is able to spin I would probably check that first.

They ground on the bar!!!!?

WTF, haha while i had the motor apart and cleaning the bulkhead i put the switches in the console! **** guess i better rethink that one if it doesnt work. Got tired of my knees and what ever else banging it or hitting reverse at rediculous speeds.

If its anything like the 06's (which i'm pretty sure they are) if you look at the two halfs where they go around the bars you will see two little prongs. I had to take a wire brush and clean the prongs off and then I also cleaned my bars down to the bar metal where the prongs would be making contact and my problem was fixed.
