HELP Summit Crank Replacement

Getting ready to replace the crank and lower cases on my buddies 01 summit 800. Already disassembled the engine and I'm getting ready to send the crank out. Looking for any advice on things to do or look for on reassembly. Like bearing clearances to check or places to put sealant any advice will help. Thanks

Don't send your crank to Shortblocks-R-Us unless you don't ever want to see it back. Sent the thing to this guy 2 months ago still haven't seen it. He said 3 day turn. Yeah Right.

Be very careful when re-installing the stator and wiring. There is very little clearance and when I did mine, I had too much slack in the wire and the magneto wore off the insulation and i had a high end miss that drove me crazy. It was a pain to repair too. Had to pull out and repai on the bench. It was tight to get at this wiring in the sled.

Also don't drop any needle bearings when pulling wrist pins. Always put cloths under the pistons to catch them when they fall.

I always put Loctite bearing retainer on the bearings in the crank and lube everything with injection oil before putting it together.

Have your top case drilled to accept the oil drippings to the bearings. Then you will not be needing the grease in the bearing. but when the crank is done they will need to pull the seals out from the bearing to let the oil run through it,

I have a crank ready for install for a drilled case, Pm me for more deatails.

Getting ready for install. Thought I would add a couple details to this thread. Make sure to put the Isoflex grease in outer bearings. They don't except oil from the injection unless specially drilled to as mentioned above. Also make sure to check piston to cylinder clearance and ring gap. I bought a set of SPI pistons and they fit perfect, didn't have to change any end gap. I will also put locktite on the bearings into the case also as mentioned above. One more thing I found on inspection was that i reed was sticking open just a air. Replace reeds if any sign of wear or weakness shows. Thats all for now. I will post any new findings that come up during assembly. I also have torque specs and sequence that I can scan and put on here if anybody would like.
