Help / Sugestions on a RT

I just bought a 2007 RT 1000 summit x , it's got .1 mile on it . I put a dyno-port high alt pipe and can on it , a light weight rear skid , and ripped out all the foam - (I almost got it down to my old 07 800 wt ) am I on the right track ? I also ordered a 08 800r t-stat to put on it - is this right ? My local dealer told me I would need to change the helix and spring - shouldn't the one in it be right and if not is there a clutch kit that I can put in that I would get all the above and have a better system ? The clutch is one thing that I never messed with so I'm pretty green on that thanks for your help and info.

dude, think about the comment rejet..... your sled is EFI.....

mxzx-revzone.com

get ahold of DJ at that site and get yourself a clutch kit, and run a floating secondary kit, look around ebay, there cheap and work well.

also, get rid off the airboxes and run pod filters, then your crank will last more then 500 miles.

What elevation are you riding??

You're on the right track anytime you can lighten up an RT.

They recommend semi-synthetic or greater. I've always just used full synthetic, never had any issues. The E-Raves on these 1000's are common for gunk at early mileages, so I'd try to stick with the best oil you can get.

As for your clutching, with the altitude you ride, BRP has a high elevation kit that consists of aluminum arms rather than the steel that are factory, so you could go with the BRP kit and have the dealer set it up or you could contact BIG JOHN at Sledhead racing and get a clutch kit from him. I just set up an 800 HO kit from him and hit the set-up perfectly on the first shot with what we got from him.

Dalton makes some 60 gram arms that are in between the weight of the stock steel and the aluminum high altitude kit (800) arms that work real well also on the 1000. If you can get these, I'd probably go that route.

I ride 3,000-6,000 feet so I can't really give you any more info considering the variables

Thanks DiamondDave
Just today I put the factory alum wts spring and pins in , as far as the oil issue - 2 years ago I bought a 55 gal drum of min oil for about $13/gal and I still have about 1/2 of it left , so I thought it would be nice to be able to use it in the rt , but if you guys say not to -I won't . THANKS , SkiDooDude

Colorado

If you ever get near Loveland CO. stop in at Felker Motorsports. He has a great set up. He knows all the quirks of the RT 1000. He had his own that he made run like a "MONSTER", as we called it. His was lighter than a 159" Summit X.
