HELP PLEAZE! 900 RMK electrical issue...

We just put a new fuel pump in our 2005 900 RMK thinking it would solve an issue, but alas...

The sled starts and runs fine when the fuel pump is jacked into a 12V car battery, but the dash and headlights do not work.

It will not start and run on its own.

What is the most likely culprit, and how do we start to diagnose this one?

we found some burned wires under the pipe in the wiring harness for the hood right aft the relay, but nothing was severed, so we taped them up nicely.

Given these burnt wires, what is the most likely item that may have been fried? ECU? Voltage regulator?

And why dont these things have fuse boxes to protect them from possible meltdowns to the electrical?

Any and ALL feedback is and will be greatly appreciated!

I'm with Super Dave3 on this, the stator would be my first guess and if it's still the stock stator then it's about due for a change anyways since those were a common item to go poof!!

x 3 send it to rm stator to get checked out, they put it under load. they found my problem- random shut downs and no starts.

also i would back probe the VR to see if the stator is putting out voltage at all.
