Buddy of mine has a 2005 IQ 700 HO...I think its a 2005? Anyway....the last few rides it has been acting up. Start and run great for awhile then it will just randomly die for no reason and you cannot get it to start less it sits for 30-45 min. When it does start it idles pretty low and fluctuates up and down from 700-1000 rpm. Sometimes it will start and run great for 20 min then just die again? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You can pull and pull and it just won't start till it cools. It has spark even when it won't start. Plugs are always cardboard brown and not flooding no matter how much we pull on it. We have unplugged the tether, key switch, emergency stop switch, key switch, and checked quite a bit of the wiring.
It runs great when it runs....just won't start when it gets in its mood.

If I were to venture to guess...it seems to be some sort of electronic issues, almost like the ecu isn't telling the injectors to fire. Fuel pump has pressure? Dealer says to send it to them (12 hour drive) so they can re-adjust the TPS and throttle cables? Anyone have any advise?

Thanks in advance.

Have he had it rebuilt or something before it started like this? My first thought was false air getting in some where due to an expansion of some rubber or metal.
Try starting it up an run it till it's hot and spray the engine with starter fluid, if it increases in RPM's you have found a leak.
Just a thought....

Not rebuilt....

It hasn't been rebuilt, original motor. We had a leak at one time and I helped him replace the intake boots due to cracking they are good now. The engine runs great until it just randomly dies then it won't restart for 30-45 min?

It does have some symptoms of the tps being bad/out of adjustment I suppose I will build him a tester and start with that. Are there any other electrical components that could go bad that would cause this?

ttt

Anything else that would cause this? Looking for something to check here guys as the sled is still up on the mountain. Just trying to get some info to check here before we go up to try to recover it. I doubt there is anyway we can tow it out. I would hate to have him call a helicopter for this thing.
