Help Out My IQ--08-700

I just picked up a 08 700 155 with 600 mi for the wife and I am going through the sled and had a couple of questions.

Right now the sled is setup with 10-58's, Polaris almond(I think) 64/38-36 helix and a rep/pink spring and 2 derlins with 20-41 gearing.

We ride 7-10K and I am not too sure about the helix at all? Any thoughts?

When I pulled the primary clutch there was some oil in the clutch bore.
There was not any oil on the crank seal or around the belly pan or the underside of the clutch cover. I ran the engine and sprayed the crank seal with brake clean and the idle speed did not change.

Is the oil in there from the factory?

The air box has two big holes and two small holes in the top corners and when you look at them at a angle you can see that there was something mounted there at one time. . . . .Nitrous ???
I looked around and did not see any sings of a manual switch. Ideas?

1) I would NOT worry about the oil inside the clutch on your pic.

2) PLUG the air box holes, and while you're there, wipe down the exterior of the air-box with lacquer thinner or Brakekleen and duct tape the seam. Make sure the baffle is still inside the air-box.

3) Check out the TECH TIPS FOR 600.700/800 CFI's and BEST BANG for the BUCK Thread pinned at the top under "INCREASING YOUR IQ" Lotsa tips that you'll find useful.

I currently ride a2007 DRAGON 700, the best sled I've owned over the last 25 years and 15+ sleds.

Sometimes guys will fill the primary hub cavity with oil prior to inserting the puller tool to create a little hydraulic action to pull a stubborn clutch. Might just be some residual.

The location of the holes in the air box look similar to our 700 N2O sled, I dont remember the hole being that big though. You should see some signs of a bottle mounted somewhere. On ours (Boondockers Synergy) the bottle mounted with an arm attached outside the oil tank and up that high. You would also see signs of some kind of fuel controller and the button itself. Mine also has a hole in the dash where the adjustment regulator comes through. Any way to ask the previous owner?

The 58g weights seem a bit light to me, but I haven't run the 10 series in a 700 or that high of gearing. We have 62g MTX with 19/42 and they will find full RPM even with the 162" track we added. Might want to watch the rpm's first trip or so.

As posted, lots of other helpful reading on the threads quoted. Good luck, I think you'll really like that sled. EW

make sure that the clutch taper is clean and wipe it with brakeclean or acetone on the bore and the taper before assembly.

Those holes are BD nos holes.
