Help needed to haul sleds.

:)Me and a mate are going to be on the west coast of the US in late Oct earlly Nov to pick up some sleds, we need to hire some form of transport to haul at least 4 sleds in one go, we plan on doing a pretty big loop so looking for something reliable, we will be flying into Seattle as that is our shipping port.
So if anyone knows where we could hire such a set up drop me a pm or email me at scott@go-nsa.com.

Cheers,
Scott

What exactly are you doing. Your wanting to have your sleds picked up on the west coast and delivered where?

I assume what they are looking for is a trailer and tow vehicle to rent. They are coming a little early for a good sled trip.

What you need to post is exactly what you want (truck/suv, etc), 4 place trailer, etc., etc.,

What are the dates?
If you are picking up in Seattle, where are you going with the sleds?
How long will you need the vehicle/trailer?
Do you have a budget?

Those things might get you more assistance.

:) 2fun

Good idea, my business partner and myself are traveling to the US to purchase snowmobiles and ship back to Japan, these sleds are for private use in our own business and not for re-sale.
We are planning on arriving in the US around the end of October early Nov, we haven't confirmed which flights/airport we will arrive at yet, trying to sort out the transport first, but at this point it will be Seattle, Seattle is also the shipping port we will be sending our sleds from, we have sleds to pick up in Seattle, Montana and Idaho, we are aiming to get this done in about 3-4 days, a 4 place and SUV would be great, but a truck with deck and double trailer would also suit.
As for a budget we are happy to pay whats fair, we have both driven in the states before and have international drivers licences.
Anyone that wants to hire their rig and trailer to us is welcome to come along on the road trip also.

Cheers,
Scott

Rent a box van/truck thru U-Haul, Penske, etc. The U-Haul trucks with a lower deck shouldnt be a problem for two guys to load. If you get a bigger Penske truck like a FL70 they usually have a lift gate you could load with also.

yup just rent a Uhaul type truck enclosed. or just have them all shipped to your port. maybe you could hire some one here to do all that leg work if you make it worth while

I've tried U-Haul, the day rate was cheap but the mileage rate is insane, talked to Penske, the biggest light weight truck will only be good for 2 sleds and they do not have tow bars, so not having a great deal of success there.

Tried to register with uship but the wont except the international phone number as it is a "required field" to register, sent them an email anyway.

thanks for the help guys,
scott

I'm with Backcountry on this.. Penske local rents are good trucks (they won't rent the good stuff one way). Diesel, lift gates and plenty of room for 4 sleds; along with two easy chairs and a mini bar stuffed in for good measure:beer;

No, it wouldn't be a 'light truck' (I think they reg them at 25999), but your mileage will probably be just as good as any of the light, small ones. And you could keep your speed up heading down the road:p

I think they're about 100 bucks a day, 7 for 5 rental for the week (500 for the week) and 2-bits per mile.

Besides picking up machines to send back to Japan, are you going to ride while you are here? Sorry if I missunderstood earlier post. If so you are early. Can you delay until mid December??
i just completed registration for uship successfully, wait and see what happens there i suppose

no riding this time round, hope to be back in late March though and will be keen to go riding then

Hey Scott,
Man what a project! You should have just had me handle it all. One big group buy all resting comfortably in Seattle waiting for export. Hot rod or stock........anyway neither here nor there

Anyway in March plan a fly in to Boise Id and we'll add Asian Customer Appreciation Days to European Customer Appreciation Days. Kind of an international Olympics of fun. Ride some of the hottest normally asperated Polaris RMK mtn sleds on the planet while testing your drinking skills against some of the world's most prolific funsters. Our Norweigen customers from last year's fiasco still haven't recovered physically or financially!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

A few suggestions:
You can rent exactly what you're looking for, a big pickup and trailer from const equip rental places, like Hertz, United Rentals, etc. Not sure of the rates, as they just give me the equip or truck because my company rents a great deal of equipment.
Next option, although a bit risky, is to rent a pickup truck from a car rental place. They will not want you to tow and they do not have a receiver hitch, but all fullsize trucks have bumpr hitches, just buy a ball for the trailer and rent a car hauler trailer from Uhaul. Stuff 1 seld in the back of the truck and load 3 more on sideways. This should probably be a last resort, although I towed an 18' cargo trailer across the country with a rented (no towing allowed) truck, took the ball off the bumper and returned it, no problems.
Lastly, unless you're geting a smokin deal on the 4 different sleds, why not just buy 4 machines in the Seattle area and be done with it? It'll probably cost a couple grand at least between rentals, fuel, lodging, etc. to drive around the western united states. I'm sure if you wanted 4 Revs, 4 Msleds, 4 Apexes...whatever, you could find some real decent stuff. Probably get a good package deal from a dealer too.
