HELP!!! My XP runs like crap!!!

I have a 2008 Everest 800 with an RKT head and the thing can, all of the updates were done about a month ago (fuel tank, driveshaft, gearing). I was riding Golden Sunday (3,000 to 8,000ft?) and the sled would not pull past 7,000RPM for 3/4 of the day (low and midrange power band was fine), the engine light stayed on the whole day. When I would go to try and climb the sled would fall on it's face (loose RPM). I thought there could be a chance it was a lean bog, but I flipped the choke on and it only made things worse. The funny/weird part is that when I was riding out (sun was setting) the sled started to run like it should. Any ideas as to what may cause this?

my son has pretty close to the same problem, right down to the weird part where it ran better as we were headed to the trailer, his does not have the rkt head, but he added a intake kit to his, only other addons are the hps can, my xp just has the can, it runs perfect, he had the carbs cleaned and the dealer reset the control box prior to the ride, We checked the plugs after a hard ride and they both looked a bit rich with some oil buildup around the the outer edges, we`re going to inspect and clean the clutches to eliminate that possibility, we`ll post more info when we test next weekend,

Could be all kinds of stuff but one thing to check is your primary. Have you had your bushings updated yet on your primary? In 2008 the bushings in the primary were too soft. Net result is they burn out quick. If you keep riding with the bushings gone you will not be happy with the result. I have a buddy I sled with all the time and he did not do his bushings. I was with him the night it happened. He could not get top RPM. We looked at everything. He took it out the next day and it was running better until one of the rollers finally went and he blew his clutch to pieces. Put a hole in the governer cap and it was done. $1000.00 to buy a new clutch. I have the ski-doo racing primary on mine with the updated bushings so I did not have a problem. However, I took my stalk one in and the bushing were pretty much done on it. My dealer took it in the back put the new bushings (2009 bushings) in it and I walked away within about 15 minutes of showing up. All on warranty. My dealer is working on waranty for my buddies but they dont think they will get it because it should have been caught before it destroyed the clutch.

So this is one thing to check. if you have not had your bushings done yet get them done.

Check all the lines to the exhaust valves....pinched or disconected.
Do the lights and gauges all function?

It needs a Ken Baker tune-up :)

Sounds like your DPM. $200. Can. or spend a extra 100 for a computer diagnostic at a dealer, then you would know for sure. It's made to run richer at lower altitude, that's why it seems to run better coming down the hill.
