I know this is pry a dumb question but I am replacing a badly bent trailing arm on a mountain max and I cant seem to be able to remove the bushing thing in the hole where it attaches to the tunnel. Any help would be great.

Its pressed in.

If the arm is junk, put it in a vice with the bushing end sticking up. Then use a cut off wheel or a hack saw and slice through the end of it so you can then peel open the end and easily remove the bushing.

Then install. Remove excess paint inside the new arm. open up the jaws of the vise so you can fit the arm and bushing in it and then start cranking the vise shut to press in the new bushing.

I perfer to use a hyd Press but the vise method will work if you have a good vise. Eric

Yep they are a PITA!!!
Not a dumb question, one would not think they would be that difficult to remove, especially since new trailing arms do not come with one???
The bushings themselves are virtually indestructible they will take a beating thats for sure, find yourself a socket the same size and drive/press it out.

Hey thanks for the help. I just bent another trailing arm today on our other mountain max so your answers will come in handy very soon:eek:

I sure dont miss those trailing arms. I tired them all from 50.00 each to 600.00 a set. They all bend and break. from 98 to 04 I'm sure I went though 10-15 trailing arms. I also had a spare set on hand that was all welded up like a battleship. Eric
