Help Me decide. 2008 Rmk 155 bd turbo or 2010 m8??

I have a 2010 m8 pretty much stock besides vents, can and lightweight brake rotor. I ride low elv. but lots of snow. Do alot of shorter climbs through the trees and powder powerline and logging roads riding. I love the m8 but want more power. Do you think its worth having a turbo? how do the chassis compare for that kind of riding?sidehilling in trees? and so forth?

I don't think you are gonig to get a clear conscise answer from this forum.
It's going to involve lots of opinions and personal experience...and maybe even some brand loyalty. LOL

Honesly, in MY opinion...the chassis are quite similar.

I spent a day last year riding all of the 2010 models for the entire day. I hopped back and forth as much as I could...probably spent more time on the M.

I also did this in 2009 where both involved Sunridge Sledhead's turbo'd sleds. A 2007 turbo m7 and a 2007 turbo dragon.

On the 2007 turbo sleds, I liked the Dragon better. Much better.

On the 2010 stockers (Dragon was a 155 and M was a 163), aside from minor handlebar ergos (Protaper bars on dragon were too wide for me), I had a hard time telling the difference between those two sleds.

IMO, it really depends on what vintage M you chose.

If I was comparing your two choices as stocker sleds (the 2010 M and the 2008 Dragon), I'd get the M if it were me.

BUT factor in the power and fun of the turbo, cost of maintainence, race fuel and difference in cost of the purchase....that's a whole new ball of wax. :) And you CAN put a price on a smile.....

I'd say ride them both, decide which one toots your horn, and then decide which one you want to afford.

You ride it...you decide. :)

the chassis are very similar, if you can ride an M, you can hop right onto a IQ chassis.

and boost is like crack.. if your willing to keep up on maintinance and ahve some idea how to tune a sled, its no comparo. a well tuned pump gas 8 is gonna work a stocker if it runs halfway good and you use the power to your advantage.

when you say low elevation, like how low?? as having to run lots of race gas is a lot of $$ and not really worth it then thought as a good running 800 will get you most places you need to go, again, boost is just to much fun.

I wouldn't buy a used turbo sled. Go with the non turbo and pick your preferred turbo setup and go from there if turbo is how you want to go. Just as thrilling as power is reliability.

why not buy a used turbo? its got 1000mi on the sled and about 400 on the turbo setup? i mean its the same as me buying a turbo for my m8 and puting 400 miles on it ans now saying its junk? i have the m8 and am looking to trade it almost straight arcoss for the 700 turbo. i dont have the funds to put a turbo on my m8

Go through it then.
Check the reeds and pistons.
Make sure the primary clutch has been maintained and rebuilt.
Check the motor mounts.

yeah, go read around in the turbo poo section and learn about htem.. see what you can find, then check it out. there are a LOT of good deals on used turbo sleds right now, some are really nice sleds, others not so much... just depends, do your homeowork and sounds like you might score a good deal.
