Help from the Impulse guys please?

I built a custom Nypex last year with a similar turbo location as the Impulse. It is a Diamond S header system. I run the Rev fuel tank and and it had a aluminum shield around the turbo with an upward vent to the upper side panels. I didnt have much for heat issues short of when my down pipe cracked and did some damage. I had everything ceramic coated but didnt hold up on header so this year I titanium wrapped the header and down pipe, I also got a turbo blanket and was wondering if I need this wrap heat shield now. Its a real pain to get to turbo because the seat, fuel tank and upper steering frame have to me loosened or removed. Any problems having the turbo open there with covers or wiring. I have all the hoses and wiring pretty well wrapped. Any info would be helpful. Thank you. Shad

Check out the heat sheild pics in this thread, it is of my Impulse Rx1 with a Rev tank. While its not a Nytro its basically the same deal. I would be really leary of running without the sheild especially when the fuel level gets lower in the tank. I never had a turbo blanket but I did header wrap everything and it still made a ton of heat. Maybe you need a better designed sheild thats easier to work with. The one here in the pics that I built was 2 layers with insulation in between the layers and a vent/discharge to direct the heat away. I don't think I would run without it but thats just me.

Thanx for the input, I did see your project and will modify my current shield to help with my Rev tank. Makes sense and dont want to risk it. Thanx M5.

You can see in the pic that I wrap my speedo wire to the frame and I have the high temp protection on the coolant lines to and fro the turbo. I have never ran anything else and have never had melting. FYI our oil return line is braided steel so it does not need covering.
