I have an 85 Honda XR 350 and I need a CDI unit for it....but the OEM part has been discontinued and there are no aftermarket ones that I know of. Anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure it's the CDI... Pulse generators went TU far more often on the XR's!

No I am not positive Moonman...I know it is an electrical problem and the coil seems to test fine.

When I hit the throttle it falls on its face and cuts out. It will idle all right.

Honda should be able to put you on an obsolete parts list...generally dealers check when things are slow and go blow the dust off of old parts in the back room to see if they have it ...i know Yamaha has this program ...there as well has to be a bike salvage yard that can help ya...does your bike have the samesystem as sleds that if throttle cable sticks it cut the ignition and often its just adjustment...or like the old cats the magnets would misalign..??

Remove spark plug boot..trim a bit off your coil high tension lead at your sparkplug boot ...it could be breaking down there above idle ..as well if not epoxyed in coil end you could trim abit there as well...worth a try
