Help can't steer 09 m1000 162

grow a set!

I have a 09 m1000 162 sp. This is the hardest sled to steer that I have ever rode.I put on a pair of slp powder pro's, never rode with the stock skis. What can be done to solve the steering effort that it takes to turn the ski's? I think that I'll put the stock ones on and try that. I have also cranked up the spring on the rear shock about half way. Thanks for any input you guy's have.

PUT ON A LIGHT WEIGHT CAN AND PULL THE SKIS IN AND AND IF THAT DONT WORK GROW A SET NUTS

FIX

MINE IS A BONE STOCK 08 1K AND HONESTLY A SLP CAN AND THE SKIS IN AT THE MOST NARROW POSITION....IT MADE THE SLED ROCK. ITS A $280 INVESTMENT THAT MAKES A WORLD OF DIF.IF YOUR WEIGHT IS UNDER 200LBS (I AM 210) THEN IT MAY TAKE MORE BUT BRO I AM AN AN OFFICE GUY SIT AT A DESK 40RHS PLUS A WEEK AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY 1k NOW. ITS LIGHT AND NIMBLE WITH TONS OF GRUNT TO PULL AND B-DOCK ANY SITUATION OR HILL CLIMB

skis

09 m1000 front of skid dropped to lower holes rear in upper , holz valving and double spring, bear cat skis are a must in my oppinion, sled steers much easier than a m8. many of us here are now running bear cats, it also keeps the front end of the m1000 up out of the snow,

Up date, I put 60lbs of air in the front shocks, 125 lbs in the rear. I have about three quarters of an inch of threads showing on the front shock in the rear. Took the powder pro's off, went back to the stock ones, moved them to the narrowest position. Only able to ride a little bit, seem's to have made quite a bit of difference........

My dad rides an 09 m1000 and it doesn't seem to steer any harder than my 05 m7. Both with powder pro skis, set his up with 65psi in the front 145 in the back with the front arm location dropped down in the tunnel. Initially he had the powder pros set in the wrong holes which made it turn really hard. It also started with 55lb of air in the front. I bumped up the front air pressure to 65 and that really helped transfer more of the weight to the rear skid. Running about 3/4" of preload on the center shock. If it is still bad then something must be binding in a joint somewhere.

My M8 steers harder than it should too.

"On your steering post where the arm comes off of it that hooks to your linkage . There are some holes closer to the steering post . Drill out the next one in and remount your linkage there this helps a little .This gives you more leverage".

Has anyone else tried this? It almost seems counterintuitive to move the steering rod closer to the fulcrum of the steering post for more leverage? Does it really work?

It works great on the M-8 but not on the M1000 due to the size of the engine. The tierod hits the one of the head bolts.

i found on my 09 m8 that my ball joints were bad fron the get go.. unhook the tie rod end at spindale and make sure they move freely mine did not... also went back to stock skis. have gn2 for sale. hope this helps
