help!! cant figure it out

my 06 900 will start fine and run fine intermitentlythe mfd will reset and all lights will go out, checked all wiring conections. cleaned sealed with grease.ran it tonight and noticed that runs fine for about 10 min. then starts cutting out again, hold throttle at around 3 grand and cuts out totally. flashes back on , let off throttle and all works fine on mfd. noticed voltage low on mfd bar graph?? some times it just dies, low voltage to fuel pump. starts and runs for flare up and no lights work. any suggestions voltage regulator? tps circuit ??. wiring? speed sensor disconected, mdf still reads 0-3 mph while driving,

So you run it for 10 minutes and then it starts acting up right?

Sounds to me like your stator is on the way out.... they commonly malfunction as they warm up and then work normally after cool down till they get hot again.

Can you repeat the problems each time after it warms up?
 
no 2 days ago it wouldnt start cold . earlyer today it ran for 30min. before it acted up. seems to go out with rapid throttle responce. thinking wiring??
will check stator, and counld it possible be the tps harness. or the capacitor, voltage regulator?.
 
the low voltage bar on the mfd for battery usually means bad capacitor.

the mfd cutting out could be chassis relay, stator, ecu. the chassis relay is the relay on the harness just above the recoil housing. also could be broken wire. also do your hand warmers work? we have been seeing a lot of shorted hand warmer wires lately.
 
will check wiring after work, will also check heated grips, and stator. wiring.
changed relay and no difference. changed ecu and still the same. i will also try extra grounds. will check capacitor. what a problem child. ran good up until I changed the crank, on the weekend.
 
alot of the issues that are frying parts, or whatnot are from poor wire harness routing, or chaffing on other parts...

you must be very particular how you route the harness, wire loom them, do not crank the zip ties down crazt tight ect...

i also heat tape the wire loom so it will not melt...

if you need any parts after you test them, let me know i might have them avail and will sell them much cheaper then polaris will. ;)
 
WELL LOOKING AT WIRING AND FOUND HEATED HANDLE GRIPS, WIRING RUBBED THROUGH, AND NOT WORKING ON ONE ELEMENT ON LEFT SIDE. WOULD THIS MAKE THE CHARGING CIRCUIT FAIL INTERMITENTLY. I AM STIL LOOKING FOR MORE WIRING PROBLEMS NOW. ANY OTHER INPUT WOULD BE GREAT.

if it was shorting out to ground yes it could be your problem. it also could have taken out the capacitor. repair the wires or leave them disconnected and take it for a spin and see what happens.
 
On my wife's 07 RMK 600 we had a similar problem with the MFD flashing/going blank.Turned out the wire running to the VES/Powervalve's was up against the Y-pipe and melted thru.When you hit a bump the wire would ground out on the pipe and no MFD.Taped up and rerouted wire not a problem since:face-icon-small-hap.

SEEMED TO HAVE FOUND PROBLEM. 1 OF THE YELLOW WIRES FROM THE STATOR RUBBED THROUGH AND INTERMITENTLY TOUCHING CASE. JUST GOT BACK FROM RIDE AND SPEEDO BACK TO NORMAL. NO CUTTING OUT AND ALL LIGHTS STAYED ON. GREAT.NEWS. WILL GO FOR A LONGER RIDE TOMMOROW. BUT ALL LOOKS GOOD NOW. THANKS TO EVERY ONE FOR ALL THE HELP.

Thanks for the update.
Over and over again we see random wiring problems pop up on these sleds, and every time someone finds one, it helps the next guy.:laser:
