Help. Bad Vibration

2013 800 pro 125 miles stock.. Bad vibration at 2600-3100 rpm, any ideas. Thanks

I think they all do it, I’ve never looked at what RPM but it isn’t an issue when moving.

If your hood is covered with snow it will slide off if you hit your brake hard during the vibration. You have to time it right.

ya it will numb your hands, shake the hell out of the running boards. Checked three other 13 pros and they don't do it. Just checking if anybody other than me noticed this.

That is before clutch engagement... The clutch setup is designed to engage at 3800 RPM.

Have you compared it side by side with other 2013 PRO 800 RMK's??

How much time do you spend with your hands on the bars below clutch engagement?

Yes side by side, I ride with 2 other 13 pros and mine is the only one that does it.
Dont spend alot of time in that rpm range, was just something I noticed that wasnt there the last ride & is not there in the others that I have been around.

Mine vibrates like a mofo from like 2500-4500 rpm. i know some of it is becuase i went with Boost-it motor mounts but my god. Wife actually told me today she couldnt ride my sled very long or she would have an orgasm

Motor is just probable getting ready to grenade !! you know the famous polaris ticking time BOMB !! NOT really the VIBRATION is just a clever polaris marketing tool to try and get more women riding snowmobiles (orgasm), like the 900 RMK back in 2005-2006

Yah. If it goes it goes. Put rk tek pistons in this summer going to dan next summer. If it doesnt last till then might look into stuffing a nytro motor in there

Take it back to the dealer if your side by side comparison is different....
But first...
If you can get your buddies to work with you... try swapping out the primary clutch and see if that changes it... if so.... have the dealer warranty the clutch.

Mine too. 5000-8000 it smooths out. Worried at first, then forgot about it and just enjoy the ride after 5000RPM.

Is this a known problem? I could just pop mine off and rev it up. Might try it out

I don't think that would be a good idea.

It may have a clutch out of balance but don't start it and rev it up without one on it.

D
Shouldnt matter. Not hitting max rpms or anything. Clutch isnt going to do anything special

And sorry for bad rep.. Ment to click on quote

yes it does matter. Don't run your engine without the clutch on it:face-icon-small-dis

Please elaborate... what does it do and why does it do it.

Can't be because of a balance issue because it is not keyed, or splined just slapped on there. Same thing as not having a belt. The clutch doesnt hold anything in place.

Ok after some reading the clutch acts as a harmonic balancer on a car. Ok so yah i can see not to sit in your garage and do a whole marathon reving up the motor. For the 3 seconds its takes me to start it, rev it to 3000 see if it still vibrates, its not going to hurt anything. If it does, the motor was already coming apart.

The engine will rev A LOT quicker without the clutch and you could over rev it easily... Not worth IMO. If you do do it take it easy on the gas..

do what you like, it's your motor. I would never think of starting my sled without the clutch on. You're right, it's a MASSIVE harmonic balancer on the end of a tiny crank. It needs to be on there. I don't know from firsthand experience, but I would speculate your motor will not idle but will rev up quickly on its own and might shake the crank apart.
Any engine guys know if that's true or not?

Never been an Issue for me, have done it a fair number of times with a quick touch of Scotchbrite pad to get the surface rust off the taper prior to installing clutch after a lenghty rebuild. I have also done run ups prior to finishing installs just to verify fuel line and wire routing to avoid pinches and/or chaffing with engine vibration. The point is to use your head about it, and yes it will accelarate much faster and slow down much slower because the flywheel effect is gone. The clutch should not be considered a harmonic dampner. It may indeed change the harmonic frequency of the crank assembly but that is a different subject entirely. A 30 second start and check for that known vibration should not cause any issues I'm aware of.

If it is indeed gone, then your clutch is most likely out of balance at least at that frequency. Live with it, warranty it, or balance it; your call at that point.
