Belt residue?
Spent the weekend before last riding up in northern MN. Snow was deep for Minnesota, maybe 4' or so. Found some "hills" and spent some time running up and down. Got home and saw that my primary sheaves are coated pretty heavily in what I would guess to be belt residue. Looks almost melted on. Sled ran fine otherwise. I've never had this happen before, but with the way our winters have been, it's been mostly trail riding for the past few years. I cleaned the clutch all up, but now I'm trying to figure out what caused this. Is it just that belts do this as they get older, and I just need a new belt? Is it because I was having to hold it pinned WFO a fair amount to get up some of these hills? Or is there something I need to be checking in my clutching? Like I said, I've had the sled for 5 years or so now, and have never seen this on the clutch before.
As always, thanks for any help.
