I went snow machining today i have 09 800 with the update let me tell you this thing run like a raped ape but the first 10 mile was good and the the top end of the throttle was like cutting out rode 20 more mile the cleaned right up no problem rode out 30 mile running real good 1/2 mile from the truck the mdf screen went dead then sled died wont start and can not get no spark what the hell happened do i have a lose wire that was making the top end cut out or what.:confused:
 
I would think there is a wire that was rubbing or they messed something up. I would think they would take care of it for you , could be the regulator also. I know when I put a riser on mine it was cutting out and I found the wires were rubbing on the bracket und the cowling. I moved them out and have had no problems since
 
if the volt reg was bad that would not make spark right i thought the spark was form the ecm. i'am not to sure about the new sled and eletrnics thanks for the quick responce guy's

unfortunately they are not like the older sleds the when the voltage regulator was bad you could finish your ride
 
Sounds just like a voltage regulator and it probably took out the ecm. Take the cover off over the top of the ecm and take a good whiff as it might smell burned. Went through the same deal 4X's last year, very frustrating deal. Should be easily warrantied and its only a 20 min fix if your dealer has the parts or willing to take off another sled on the floor. stator?

I have seen the stator or generator go out and do similar stuff as well, had a 08 700 do it last year in our group, would barely run , fluctuate, lose lighting and so on. good luck
 
Polaris had some bad regulators on early builds last year (snow checked machines). Then they seemed to get the next builds fixed. I'm curious if the sleds that are having issues are the early builds. I also don't understand what the relation is to the update. Anyone know answers to these questions?

Som regulators pop-Thats a fact.
i have had them blow on D8 -10 too unfortunately...
Polaris wake up and give us a new reg.

This is the symptoms:
First: sled wont start when warm on first pull.
Second: mfd going out or blinks.If you continue then the ECU will fry.
Third the sled is DEAD.

Oh i forgot one thing:I have never heard it happen on sled with e-start.
The battery take care of excessive voltage spikes....

Well here is a update for all you guys out there before the trip i did a compression test it was 125 psi both side well i did 1 today just for ****'s and grine and pto was 90 and the mag was 60 maybe that is why it died i looked at the piston threw the exhaust valves and they look good well i call my polaris man tommrow see whats up. I did run the synthic blend blue in the fuel tank only a pint that is what they told me and i fill the oil tank up with the same also. :mad:
