08 XP,,,The RPM's at wot are 8100 then it jumps to 8450 after a bit.......so I moved to clicker #2 and same thing 8100 at first then a while later 8450. So I added some more weight 16.5 grams put it back to clicker #2 and she ran great 1/2 the day at 8050-8150 then back to 8450. What gives, I clean the clutches often and keep the belt adjusted. Also the two screws that hold the rams in place in the primary, seemed to tight, not allowing the rams to move when turning the clickers to a lower #. So I cleaned the pins that hold the ramps and used locktight and lightly tightened so the ramps moved with mild presser where as before they were VERY stiff....Any ideas would be welcome.......:confused:

this is a very common problem with the TRAs......do not use locktight on anything related to this primary clutch, the screws you speak of sound like the screws that hold all 3 arms (these three arms hold the pin weight)

now if your ramps are tight as hell, it should no really matter as they will only move out once and are unable to move inward after they shift out, its normal more the clickers to be someone hard to adjust

IMO, if you still have stock clutching, the secondary helix is a joke and is a straight 42 i think.....the best doo has to offer is the 44/33 or get the DJ helix that has great backshift and snaps to full RPM quick. Also, the stock primary spring is wimpy, get a pnk/prp primary pring and load up the pins to 15.3 grams

ive had plenty of revs/rt/xp......the TRA is the dumbest primary on the market, but you can make it better then what it is

good luck

Ya, those ramps aren't supposed to move freely, the arms exert hundred of lbs. of force and will push them tight against the clicker bolt, I would make sure those bolts are properly torqued, you don't want then coming out!
Replace the spring cap/bushing with the '09, it is tighter and more durable/consistant.
When you see the 8400, is there any chance you are getting snow on the belt or clutches causing slip?

I don't think that slippage is the problem, because after running it down the road for a while it still dose it. I called my dealer today and he thinks it's the gage because after they did some warranty work the computer erased my altimeter and rpm readout on my gage. So somethings going on there, plus at times the rpm said 8550 and it never hit the limiter (8500) so we will see. As to the bolts I will disassemble the clutch after one ride and make sure there not coming out........thanks 4 ur input

Mine did that alot with the 377 belt, and stopped doing it with the Gates belt that Felkers came up with. Go figure!?

just an fyi, winter brew is one of the best tech hands on these forums for the doo products.....he has helped many many people including myself

good luck:beer;

Also, are we talking about the digital RPM guage or the analog guage?

Also, make sure you get the new bushings, & rollers. They should be covered under warrenty for you. Mine sticks at 8300 on the road, and 8200 in the powder now.

Before the new parts it would bounce off the rev limater down the road, but only pull about 8100 in the powder. Seemed to help out quite a bit for me.

Hey Winter Brew.......Are you guys running the stock helix,spring and ramps??? We ride 7000 to 8500 feet mostly boon docking, powder and some steep........
:confused::confused::beer;:):beer;:D

We have our own helix, different ramps, spring and heavier pin weights and sometimes a top gear if necessary depending on track length, rider weight etc....

team

a team clutch conversion made all the difference in a friends sled.
Made his xp run with the bigger sleds!!:p

buying a TEAM is a rip, the 06 roller was a fine match for the TEAM, and the newer secondary is fine......the TRA is and always will the real problem, it just need a bit more effort and maintenance then the others

It's not the gauge??? how do these guys get to be dealers?? It's your clutching...IF it's still stock that's the issue. The primary is shifting out so far the stopping causing the RPM's to rise. There are several clutch kits out there you need to get the stock clutching out of it as it is junk. Mine did the same thing stock...would pull up to about 60mph on the trail then stop like it hit a brick wall and the R's would start to rise. You can add all the weight in the world and it won't fix it with the stock ramps.

Also leaving the primary stock and going to a 42/33 helix will make the issue worse. that helix will have less upshift on the top so the issue with surface even more.

Who has the best set up in your opinion..and what do i need exactly????

PM Winter Brew and buy his kit. Should make a world of difference in performance and also belt temps. Doo clutching is horrible out of the box but can be improved.
