Help!!!---07 m8 wont go over 6500 rpms

buddys sled won't go over 6500rpms-we've had the servo motor checked and adjusted the powervalve cables and still haven't found the problem....any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. also there have been no error codes and he's running an slp pipe and can with no fuel controller.

Will it go over the 6500 on a track stand? One thing you might check is the secondary clutch and make sure everything is ok there. Stuff like flat rollers etc.

thats as high as it will rev on the track stand. We noticed if we opened the throttle nice and easy it would hit 7200 rpms but if you open it all the way it falls on its face and won't go over 6500 rpms. that was 5 min. ago.

I just went through the same thing with my sled. Its an 07 M8 as well. I checked everything, sensors, put in new PV cables, checked the Servo, swapped secondary clutches, checked primery spring, swapped out weights on the primary, you name i checked it. got fed up and took it to the shop. they narrowed it down to the Stator after they rechecked everything i had checked and a few things beyond that (oil pump, etc).

It would not go over 7000 RPMs and had no top end. ran fine throughout the rest of the RPM curve.

Gonna get replaced on wednesday.

I would bet thats what the problem with your buddies sled is.

I had a thread on this not to long ago titled, 'Did i blow my top end or PV cables' check that one out. i went through and checked everything everyone suggested as well as the troubleshooting points in the service manual. but no one and nothing directed me to that stator

I have about 2500 miles on mine so if your buddy is in the ball park on that mileage it could another indicator.

I dont know how to test the stator or replace so i am no help there or how/why they go bad. I sure would like to know tho.

good luck

Same exact thing on mine. it would hit around 6500 to 7000 then go flat then bounce back. I spent an entire weak runnin it on the track stand and down the street tryin different things and checking the servo trying to get it to run right.

most likely the stator, sounds identical as to waht i went through.

guy at the shop had narrowed it down to the ECU or Staor, when he tested the stator he found two things that had failed on it. i dont know much about that stuff so if anyone can elaborate that would be awesome.

thanks for the help gonna see if we can find someone who knows how to test it and I'll post the results of what we find.

sweet, cant wait to hear.

another thing i wanted to add was that i could not get my engine light to come. it did briefly at one point right when my sled acted up but after that never again, just saying casue i noticed your buddy had the same symptons.

Iwonder if this is going to be a more reacurring problem witht he 07's becasue this is the third or fourth i have heard of.
