HELP! 07 M8 flashed 1-8 (servo problem) I replaced servo BUT...
I need a little help here. I was following my wife's M8 last weekend through some tight trees and could smell a really strong electrical burn smell. I stopped her and had her shut the sled off. When I restarted it and drove about 20 yards the check engine light flashed once and then 8 times. The sticker under the hood said it was a servo motor problem. When I got it back out to the trail I opened it up and the sled would run right up to 20mph no problem and then fall on its face - I limped it back to town and anytime I tried to get over 20mph it would just miss and spit and sputter like it was in a "limp mode". I replaced the servo with a spare I had but the motor seems like it is still in limp mode. I can move the APV cables by hand and they return o.k. from the servo motor loacation and don't seem to be stuck.
Here's the question: Do I need to reset the limp mode? Or is there a chance that the servo motor I replaced the old one with could be the problem (it is a used unit I bought as a spare for my M7 a few years ago and I've never run it).
Thanks in advance for any help - I really appreciate it.
