No snow at home so been up north, dark at 3:30,need a helmet light because the hood is covered in snow alot. if any one has tryed the frankensled light out? Is it a good amount of light, or would you have got somthing different? Other options would be good just don't want to brake the bank.

I'm using the solstice and it's amazing how much light I have,,not sure I need the sled light any more! It's that bright and the range is amazing!

I bought the Cyclops Solstice HID for a 24 hour dirtbike race last year, and absolutely love it. Big chunk of change, but Darryl makes some quality stuff, and I would sooner ride without a light on my bike or sled than without the Solstice. I would not intentionally ride at night without it. Tons of light where you want it to be. It's even better in the snow since there's so much more refection. I don't know much about the others out there, other than the trail tech puts out good light, but the mount isn't very good.

I have the same light and can ride either the sled or bike with it alone. The machine's light is just for fill. The HID throws down the trail for high speed riding better than most LEDs, at least they did. great battery as well that you can stack for extended run times.

Exactly. (On all your points) Some friends of mine run the expert class on motocross bikes and use only the Solstice for light.

Also to the OP: sorry I don't have better advice than recommending the most expensive option out there. I'm just excited about how awesome it is, and it is the only one I have first hand experience with.

If anyone is savvy enough with electrical and like to tinker, you can build your own kit for $100 using a led from ADVMonster, I'll be trying out the m30. Cyclops stuff is nice but the $250 tag makes yah pucker a bit.

My bud uses an M30 on a GoPro base. Wiring came from Radio Shack. Dash mounted jacks or mini JST connectors would work fine.

You can even incorporate custom LIPO 16850 battery packs with a JST plug. With the M30, .85amp draw @ 12v @ 6500mAH, youll get about 127 minutes per pack IIRC.
