Helmet Cleaning

:beer;Does anyone use anything inside your helmet after riding to keep it clean, fresh, deodorizer? Anything? What do you do?

I know after a day of riding the sweat inside your helmet has to be a problem for everyone. Even if you wear a balaclava.:beer;

I use Fabreeze in our helmets. Seems to keep odors out and and doesn't leave any funky scents behind.

Hold helmet upside down, add water and a gentle coap like Zero, agitate soap in it, rinse out. Then let air dry for days. Best to do this at end of season or when there are long breaks between rides to allow helmet to dry.

Can also place a fabric softener sheet (like Bounce) in it at end of each ride an during summer storage. Also helps control odour.

Unsnap the two ear pads, pull out the liner, and put all three in the washing machine. Air dry them when done. I've done it many times.

yep what he said. do it 2-3 times a summer for dirt biking depending on sweat and dust. Maybe once a winter.

May sound weird, but put your helmet in the dishwasher. Turn off the heat, or else you might melt something, run a cycle, then put it on a clothes line to dry or over a heat vent. Works great, and is as easy as pie.

You could use it for a big ol soup bowl for dinner too, and eat your pie in it after! Gotta love them dishwashers, good for soo many things.

Laugh all you guys want but it is what I do, and it works great. I've been doing it for years. Skippysledder asked so I responded, don't knock it until you try it.
