helmet cam footage of snowmobilier burial

holy smokes... how deep was he buried? Anybody know if they found him with beacons or if he was sticking out?

if you listen closely you can here the becans going, and it looks like uite the hole they dug him out of. especially if you keep in mind that it was a wide angle lens from the looks of things. i just found it on youtube, no idea who it was, or where it was.

Years ago I was in one much bigger than that. My one main thought was to stay on my sled with all my effort and stay on top of it. It's hard to tell, but it looks like he let go of his fairly easily. Maybe he didn't expect such a small slide to totally bury him.

ya i agree....i would have tried way harder to ride that out. it looked like a big boulder or something that he was gonna go over, but pussied out. i would have at least tried.

Thanks for sharing! I think videos like these are excellent to share and hopefully everyone can learn a little from watching them. When watching, I like to see if there is anything I would have done different. I know it is easier said than done, but I would have looked for an escape route as soon as I saw the fracture. It looks like there may have been an escape if he would have hit the throttle and gone right as soon as it fractured. But then again, it's easy to be a back seat driver behind a computer screen.

amen to that snowbigdeal, you can here buddie after talking about how he knew it was gonna slide. i bet he froze, but i was thinking the same thing get on the throttle and get out.

wow

Not second guessing or putting the guy down but watching this I noticed a couple things. Steering both directions does nothing. Also noticed that he is making no attempt to throttle. I agree with earlier post that he wasnt trying hard enough to ride out. Also noticed that this slope has trees that dont appear to be avalanche damaged so it must be an area that does not avalanche often or may be an area that has not been triggered before. Not a real deep avalanche looks like a foot deep but it is eye opening. Must have been other clues to danger that you cant see, temp change or something. I am stuck on the fact that his thumb never touches the throttle in the video,he is trying to steer down the hill and it is in vain.He is going wherever the slide takes him. Any time I am on a slope I am thinking escape plan and route and if I was stuck in this situation I would be on the gas either down the hill or trying to get across. I dont know if it would help but I would go down trying to do something. If nothing els I think this is a good post because it causes you to think "What would I do"
