Heated Seat

Here might be the unintended effect could happen. If Mama Bears bibs are not super waterproof what may have been powder snow on the seat before will likely be liquid H2O and more likely to soak through the bibs.

I have a really MESSED up lower back, through trial and error one of the things I found to help was keeping my lower back/tail bone area as warm as possible(increased blood flow to area). I found some insulation (thinsulate type material) and some black nylon and sewed up a rectangular piece that started mid back and went down the back of both thighs (slit at the bottom about 4 to 6" long for thighs). It goes in with velcro, soft fuzzy half four tabs inside bibs and hooked half on the insert. Can take it in or out as needed.

Good Luck

Thanks LRD - I asked her if she was getting soaked and she says no, just cold.

She has gone through a few of those foot heaters, now has the heated socks. She likes the heated socks because they warm the whole foot and ankle, rather than just the bottom side of the foot. She always has the handgrips on. Also has a heated visor and a helmut light. On her old sled she had to feather the throttle up to power all the electrical accessories! Her current 2005 Renegade has a 14 pound battery (YTX20S...) that really helps with the electrics. (note to self: do a load check on that battery now, before the season starts)

I've thought about "hot gel packs" warmed in the microwave prior to riding. Back in my scuba days guys would microwave the packs in the morning, store them in towels while transiting to the dive site, and then slide them up/down the back of their wetsuits. They swore by them to keep the spine/lower back warm. . . . . Haven't figured out how to "sew" one into her bibs. . . then how do you shut it off intermitantly when she is warm . . . .

I think my best option is either heated pants - but the products I have looked at heat the front sides (in the airstream) rather than the seat of the pants - or a heated seat.

My father bought a heated vest for cycle riding..

I thought, ya whatever.

then he got a little to round for it, and gave it to me.
This fall I installed the plug-in on my HD.. wow I will always make room in my bag for it.

I am sure that he said he had an insert for his bibs this year.

google away, I really like it. corded, but on the bike its not a big deal.

They make these for sleds. The name brand is Hot Ride. I bought one abotu 10 years ago with the idea of using it in canada on long trips (300-400 miles a day). I never installed it for the fear of having a wet butt. I sold it on e-bay. You might check on there for one. Eric

Keep her warm, keep her happy! I've seen heated seats on some of the newer sleds I can't afford. I think they were Cats.

Wife would like a heated seat on her 05 SkiDoo Renegade. I see Canadian Tire has a 12V heat pad that is supposed to go under the seat cover for roughly $50. I am in Seattle. I can't tell the size of the heat pad.

Anyone north of the border familiar with this product?

Can this product handle the damp environment the sleds live?

If you need some info on the Cdn Tire pad (size or whatever) I can look into it for you. The store near me shows they have them in stock. Of course I would have to find someone over the age of 17 to look for it.

You may want to go check your local dealer and get them to look into it for you, my dad just got a seat heater installed on his can-am quad, something like 150 bucks he said, runs on a 3 way switch, just like the hand/thumb warmers, and he got it all done right at the skidoo/brp dealership

Would be much appreciated to find out the details ... dimensions ... copper wire mesh or carbon fiber mesh, wattage...

I googled "Hot Ride" and got some choice websites

I found quite a few sites for Auto Seat Heaters, some for motorcycle/ATV. Seems as though the manufacturers are moving away from Copper mesh heaters in favor of the Carbon Fiber mesh heaters.

I di find http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/cafidutewamo.html but it says sold out. Also found same brand at other retailers - but all sold out. Not sure if they were all re-called, or if manufacturing can't keep up with demand.
