Heat wrap on aftermarket can?

I've seen a lot of issues with pipes melting cowlings and heard about cans melting chain case covers. I just put on a SLP Silencer w/ factory pipe and am trying to find out if i need to protect my plastics and covers. anyone here have thoughts or experience with the issue?

fwiw, this is on an '08 800 dragon.

just cover it with heat tape then make sure its vented = no problem

Hey guys,
Ya, I have a slp pipe and muffler and I just put foil heat tape on the chain case and I took out all the foam stuff out from under the hood and put the heat tape on the inside of the hood over the pipe. works great.
