do the assaults have the extra heat exchanger like the base rmk, or are they minus one like the pro rmk. probably buy whatever seems to be the best deal anyway. just a flatlander that wants more heat exchger for the little bit of ditch bangin i do. hopefully the 2013 are so bad a## that it drives the price down a little more on the 11' and 12' so i can finnaly own one of the best sleds i have ever ridden, ''thanks to the clutch problems in my xp that made me rent one for a day while waiting for parts''.

thanks in advance

Yes the assault has the same cooling setup as the standard rmk, one in the front where the drivers are, and the two long ones on the tunnel. The pro rmk only got the two long ones on the tunnel.

also did they just remove the front one on the pro's for weight savings. related to this question, why do some peaple remove there snow flaps. i would think this would help with cooling. the only reason i see in this is faster snow removal, or if you wana try to be cool with a huge roost. anybody? anybody?

Personally I feel the Pro RMK and Assault both have a cooling issue. For 99.9% of the riders the extra few pounds would make no difference at all. It's a pain in the neck to have to run scratchers all the time (on the trail) to keep the temp down. I admit in the deep snow this is not an issue however once in a while I have to have people with me that do not do the deep.
Let me be very clear, I do would not trade this sled for any other on the market. However, they all have their issues.

I would guess without a snow flap you would have real over heat issues. Plus none of your friends would ride behind you.

Sorry I hate to disagree, but my Assault has the same cooling system as the Pro. Mine has no heat exchanger in the front.

It's not too bad, I had to ride about 20 miles of groomed trail yesterday. Conditions were groomed pack powder, about 20 degrees air temperature. The temp stayed between 125 to 129. Trail riders don't like the roost, though...
