Heat Exchanger?

I am in the process of installing a VE bumper kit on my '08 M1k. I thought I was going to be able to "tolerate" my stock cooler, but now that I see firsthand how far it hangs down, and how bad it looks, I have decided it has to go. I am considering both the VE cooler or one from a '09-'10 M. The AC cooler is a littler cheaper ($98 compared to $134), but maybe the VE cooler is worth the extra? Anyone have any input on which is better?

Also, my sled is a 153". I would like to retain the stock gas rack, but there isnt a ton or space from the end of the tunnel to the bolts on the underside of the tunnel for the rack. Would one fit better than the other for my application?

You can just put your old one in a press and flatten it out!! Super cheap mod!! Just use 2 pieces of steel plate and stick the cooler between them and use a press. Some guys have driven over them with a truck. Just go slow with the press and you should have no problems. Im using a mountian addiction gas rack and love it!!

I heard that if you set the cooler on an anvil and hit it with a sledge hammer (16lb) that it will fit no prob

if you have access to a press i suggest that, it's iesier then the sledge. you'll just have to cut the tubes back a couple inches when your done as well. did mine and my bro's, turned out great.

Thanks for the replys everyone!

I Know alot of people on here are big fans of pressing the stock cooler flat. I have been nervous to try it, just seems like aluminum tears so easily when worked like that? I guess I can give it a shot and see what happens, worst case I have to buy a new one which I was obviously planning on anyway. Is there tubes or anything inside the cooler that you have to worry about crushing or anything?

I was like you when i pressed mine!! But like you said you were going to buy a new one in the first place. It was so easy. I figured forsure i wrecked somthing! Just cut your hose ends shorter and will work great!!

How much do you have to flatten it? Does anyone make a cooler that will work without mods. I'm planning on doing this to my sled too.

The VE one is nice and clean
