Heart transplant

Has anyone tried a two cyl sled engine transplant ? I have a 670 cc Rotax engine sitting on my shop floor waiting for a body . The main problem would be getting the clutches far enough apart haven't mesured it up yet but it's an idea ! :biggrin1:

There are a couple builds on bcr. Weight and width make anything you build with that motor much different than a lighter snow bike. If you want it, go for it!

One could make a joke about snow hawks, but you already knew that.

(You have swung a leg over a hawk, right? They are out there for $3-6k.)

power up dumb it down

the real problem is when you try install a snowmobile engine and THEN USE THOSE ANTIQUATED cvt clutch's you now have negated all the advantages of a snowbike with a real transmission.

its the gyroscopic effect of those two big clutch's spinning that ruins the handling on snow hawks, snowmobiles and swathers.

what you need is a big two stroke single with 8 speed air shift transmission

They claim those old Rotax 670s' have 170 plus ponies hidden but when they go they are gone .

This is the clutch you need , flinging mass goes to the center not out . Revs are lightning fast like a dirt bike . Better have a darn strong engine because she'll bounce the limiter in a heart beat . It's the powerblock and it's making a big come back in the sleds and is used in multiple ATV machines . If it can take a beating of a machine that weighs 1000 ponds and four wheels a sled isn't going to do much damage to it .
