Heard a rumor about Greenwater ...

Heard from a friend that rode Greenwater on Tuesday that as they were riding back out towards the "new" Sno-Park, they bumped into 2 FS employees in loaders, scraping the road to asphalt AFTER the parking area(up the road towards the gravel pit on the grade). Anyone ridden there after Tuesday that can confirm if this is truth? Just curious what the road conditions are up to Pyramid Creek Sno-Park now and how far up they removed snow? TIA for any info.

The "rumor" is not true. We rode there today. The indian tribal fisheries have indeed scrapped 1/2 of the width of the road bare to just before the normal snowpark. There are alot of bare spots on the road. I tell you this the next time I ride there (soon) I will park in the normal snopark. The groomer has done a wonderful job....we did 80 miles today and every road we were on was smooth as silk. Pow was deep, areas were untouched and the sun was bright!!!! It looks like spring has sprung!

Thanks for the report Dave. Was the signage removed from the lower Sno-Park? I'd hate to park at Pyramid Creek and come back to find the truck towed, which the FS could do if the signage is still up down below  I guess I'll find out in the morning.

Rode there Monday when they were starting to plow the road past the snopark and again yesterday to WJL for prime rib.

Yesterday morning the "road closed to wheeled vehicles" sign was at the lower snopark and there was quite a bit of bare pavement. Some places on the road have a shoulder for sleds. The two bobcats were parked next to Greenwater Creek just below Pyramid Creek snopark as of 9:30 last night.

Noticed a few rigs parked at the gravel pit next to the FS72 road last night, so they might have moved the snopark up higher.

in other words , will be a custerfluck Saturday.

Good to know the Indian tribals have plenty of ( everyones ) money to clear the road - that's on par..... need to talk them into opening both lanes I guess.

Not too bad past the gravel pit, they have plowed the road down to ice all the way to Pyramid Creek.

There are a few spots below the lower hairpin turn and the Matterhorn that are bare pavement, nothing real bad at this point as it is mostly ice covered.

Signage has been moved to the gravel pit ... "No Wheeled Vehicles" past there. Gravel pit has not been plowed very well so lots of soft snow when we were loading up ... truck and trailer stuck and digging out at the back of the gravel pit(and watch out for rmkboxers rock ... it's still there!). A few bare spots on the way up but nothing terribly bare for too long of a stretch. As soon as you hit the bridge before the Pyramid Creek Sno-Park, road conditions improve as you gain elevation and grooming was good when we were on the road. Sno-Jammers has some kind of club ride going on up there tomorrow, so parking will be interesting, to say the least. Got my ride in today so I didn't have to deal with the BS and rode in sunny conditions all day(had to boondock to some secret spots to get in the untracked POW but found a ton of places that were untouched).

"Saturday: Snow. High near 29. South wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible."

"Sunday: Snow. High near 27. West wind 7 to 16 mph becoming east northeast. Chance of precipitation is 90%."

someday...

Sure will be nice if things get sorted out at Greenwater/Pyramid Creek...
.
It's a great place to ride, but a lousy place to maneuver & park...
.
With the proximity to a major population center, you'd think that it would be one of the smoother working snowparks...
.
I wonder who is in charge of the organization up there..??..
