headlight delete

Ok to just leave headlight plugs blank? Does a guy need to do something with the extra voltage your not pulling.

Steve

never mind, found the threads......more confused than when I started but I found the threads.

2 60 Watt resistors 3.5 ohms plugged into light sockets, with voltage regulator from a earlier model pro or edge mounted on aluminum plugged into ECU unit? This is for a 14 pro.

That is the take home message I got. But I dont understand why the voltage regulator if you cancelled the voltage with the resistors. Also do those resistors plug right into the light socket, I find that hard to believe.

Thanks

Just run the resistors.

I like the larger 100W metal cased resistors mounted to a flat spot on the chassis.

The older voltage reg is simply to take the heat out of the combined reg... but time has proven those to be pretty reliable as long as there are no other problems.

Good luck.

You have to purchase the connector to plug into the headlight harness... and run the wires from there... that way, you are not cutting into the harness.

Some have announced no issues even without resistors...but I know of plenty of issues on sleds that did not run them when deleting the headlight.

Oh also, so the 3 wires that are now coming from the plug and the 2 wires from the resistor one wire goes to the ground so where does the other wire go of the 2 that are left? Thanks again.

Steve

I would imagine that you could actually get by with just the one resistor as high or low is on at all times. .... ground one side of the resistor... run BOTH the (+) from high & low beam into the other.

Ground to the chassis is easy or you can use the ground in the headlight connector.

..

Is there any reason to adjust the size of the resistor if you plan on running an LED pod?
