Headlight Delete in 15' PRO

I've read all the threads on the different opinions about running the headlight deletes without running an additional resistor vs running one. What is the consensus on running no headlight on the MY 15's?

I ran one of the resistors and it burned itself apart within 100 miles. Honestly at the end of the day there really isn't much weight savings, I wouldn't do it again.

Tempting fate. At least through the pro-rides, poo has struggled to put a reliable, flexible harness and electrical system together since adopting EFI. 08-12's are problematic (pre-conFusion), but still can't add much, can't pull much out. By design and execution. Just the way that it is.

Absolutely run a resistor if you are pulling the headlights.. and mount it to a good heat sink as the resistor gets HOT!

.

The way I look at it your stock headlights pull 110-120 watts. I am putting in a 100 watt 2ohm resistor in. The LED's I am going to run are 10-12 watts, so if I run 1 or 2 the resistor should handle it. Also will probably have a LED off option (low/high switch) and again 100 watt resistor should tackle it. Running a 2nd regulator/rectifier just for the the headlight circuit, so its DC. So will probably just wire in 1 100 watt resistor pre headlight switch.

Where did you mount yours. I burned my mountain fit resistor up last year on the first ride with it
Where the headlight is. If i remember right thats where the instructions say to put it. On the little aluminum bracket it comes with. Mine might be too i havent really looked at it hah

I will get a hold them again and see what they recommend

I have the mt. Fit resistor In my pro. It mounts with two screws that go in the existing holes where the headlight mounts. I check mine regularly to make sure it's not coming loose but it's always been good. It definately gets hot!!! Make sure you zip tie your wires up. If too much weight pulls on the resistor the wires can pull out of the resistor
