Header pipe wrap

SEEN IN alot of peoples pics that they wrap the pipe and just wondering what there using and whats the mesh stuff they put over wrap to help hold it on. Does the wrap hold up ok.

I'd suggest a good high temp ceramic coating. The header wrap traps heat on the outside of the pipe weakening them. In snowmobile applications it can also hold moisture after the sled cools and snow\ice melt onto them prematurely rusting them. I had my header, turbine and down pipe high temp ceramic coated by a local company in Denver. I can hold my bare hand about 3-4" away from the header with the engine running. There was no way I could get any near that close before it was coated.

There's a post from a few days ago from CC Performance who specialize in this. Check out their pics.

the header wrap works good heat wise, I can hold my hand within an inch when the sled is running after long pulls, BUT< the problem is the stuff just seems to fall apart if it gets wet.. which sorta happens a LOT on sleds.

Might try some ceramic coating, might not hold heat in the same, but it wont fall off and make a huge mess everywhere. the stuff is nasty, I am still pulling bits out that are under my motor.
