I was on better boards website pricing out some for my new pro. I see there was on option to upgrade to HD boards. Does anybody know whats different then the original boards, or what they have done to make then HD.

They are thicker... Thicker Metal = stronger for the big guys or big air peeps... a bit heavier also... I think it is a $50 upcharge.
I've put them on 5 machines now... the thick ones that is... the 200+ lb guys luv em... no more sacked out boards.

I would also recommend the Better Bars as well.. it definitely adds some rigidity to the chassis PLUS... the running boards don't get sacked out as easily... Night and day difference!

Not that I'm taking responsibility on based on the experience to date. I really don't see a market for them based on the impact and structural integrity of the existing stock part as we know right now. Then you combine that with our HD version Better Boards and for 99% of the hardcore users the situation is resolved or never surfaces.
So answer not yet and probably never for this particular part.
Now possibly as guys get more time on this chassis the stock castings will fatigue and wear to the point of failure but I'm certainly not going to start a product line on speculation. There was a huge failure rate on the simple steel bars for the IQ RAW plus a massive number of units on the snow. That made Better Bars a viable product line and offered a real value to the consumer. The PRO isn't even remotely to those numbers yet nor is there a proven need for the product yet.
....so the recommendation is go standard Better Boards if you are an average consumer and if you are a person who tears stuff up go HD version and enjoy!

is the height of the hd better boards bellow the outside rail like the standard ones.

I installed Better Boards on my 2009 Dragon RMK. It was a huge improvement.
If your instaling them yourself you will want a air operated rivit gun. If your going to buy them for a PRO RMK save your money. The stock running boards
on my 2011 PRO RMK work better than the Better Boards on my 2009 Dragon.
I don't doubt that the Better Boards are stronger, but the boot grip is better on the PRO and the snow doesn't build up as much on the PRO as it does on the Better Boards.

Interestingly that was not at all my experience on the PRO...maybe in the shop the stockers feel sticky but around here (and all the other western states that I ride in (my sled looks like a nascar ride with all of the misc state trail stickers) the Better Boards are FAR FAR FAR superior to stock in traction, snow clearing, and strength. Just better....
We have a bunch of PRO guys now after a season and it's UNIVERSAL. They love this product on this application. I ride em every day and am 100% satisfied that these make your PRO better.
As of TODAY...the PRO model is out selling every other Better Boards model 2 to 1. Last year the XP overtook the IQ RAW but we have most of that market covered. Now the guys that had BB's on the PRO's are going into their second year and that is when our product SHINES! Plus we are getting tons of action for 2012 snow checkers with at least half coming from 11 PRO with our boards on them. The word is OUT.
